Why does Vividign disallow certain types of payments?
Because of high fraud rates and collection costs. By keeping our payment methods limited to "guaranteed" or, at least, "traceable" transactions, we are able to keep bad debts to a minimum - and that means your hosting rates don't need to increase to pay for other people's broken promises! By dealing mostly with electronic payments, we keep our administrative costs low (again keeping your hosting costs low).
But I always pay by check...
Not in the web hosting world you don't! You'd be hard-pressed to find ANY hosting company that accepts checks these days. Most web hosts require electronic payments now.
Tough. I'm going to send you a check anyway...
We promise that it will be sent back to you, and in all likelihood your website will be suspended until we get a proper payment that we can process. That means your email won't work, either. Sorry, but we can't risk returned payments... we owe that to our other clients.
* If you need to pay by check, you must first phone and ask us to fax you a VIVIDIGN CREDIT APPLICATION. Yes, payments by check are considered credit now. Please note that we will NOT approve anyone who hasn't dealt with us for at least one year. Additionally, our service charge on checks (and cheques) returned to us for ANY reason (NSF or otherwise) is US $50 - no exceptions.
